Ingredients for Orange Sooji Halwa

  • 1 Nestlé MILKMAID Mini
  • 1 Cup Semolina
  • 1 Cup Orange Juice
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1/4 Cup + 2 Tbsp Ghee
  • Orange Zest
  • Roasted Nuts

How to make Orange Sooji Halwa

  • Step 1: Heat ¼ cup ghee in a pan. Add semolina and roast till it turns aromatic on low flame.
  • Step 2: Then add water, orange juice and Nestle Milkmaid. Mix well
  • Step 3: Keep stirring and let the mixture boil.
  • Step 4: Then, once it starts to separate from the pan, add 2 tbsp ghee and mix.
  • Step 5: Your Orange Sooji halwa is ready. Garnish it with some roasted nuts and orange zest and enjoy!

1. How do we make Orange zest?

Orange zest is the coloured, outside portion of the orange peel. It brings a nice citrusy flavour to the halwa here. All you need to do is grate the colourful part of the peel, only twice using a handheld grater and not the white part. The white part has a bitter flavour and hence should be avoided.

2. How to roast nuts?

Heat some ghee (2-3 tbsp) in a pan. Then add 4-5 almonds, 4-5 pistachios and 4-5 cashews in it. Roast on low flame until the nuts are lightly golden. Then use them to garnish the prepared Halwa.
