FAQs on Mango Barfi (Burfi)
1. Can I use any type of mango for the Mango Barfi recipe?
Not all mangoes are ideal for Mango Barfi. Ripe mangoes with less fiber, like Alphonso or Kesari mangoes, are best for this Mango Barfi recipe because they'll result in a smoother and fudgier texture. Mangoes with high fiber content can make the barfi tough.
2. Can I use fresh mango puree or canned mango pulp for Mango Burfi?
Yes, both fresh mango puree and canned mango pulp work for mango burfi. Fresh puree might require extra cooking time to remove excess moisture.
3. Can I adjust the sweetness of the Mango Barfi?
Absolutely! You can adjust the sweetness of the Mango Barfi according to your taste. Start with a little less MILKMAID than recommended, then taste the mixture as it thickens. Gradually add more MILKMAID if you find the sweetness lacking. This way, you can control the sweetness of your Mango Barfi.
4. How do I know when the Mango Barfi is ready?
There are two key signs to know your Mango Barfi is ready. First, the consistency! The mixture should thicken up considerably and leave the sides of the pan. Imagine it folding over itself without spreading. Second, cooking time is important. Depending on the Mango Barfi recipe, it can take 15 minutes of simmering on low heat, but keep an eye on it to avoid burning.
5. How long does Mango Barfi last?
The shelf life of Mango Barfi depends on where you store it. At room temperature, it will stay good for 2-3 days. In the refrigerator, it can last up to a week. And if you freeze it, it will be good for up to 3 months!
