Unniappam Recipe

Ingredients for Unniappam
For the batter:
- 1/2 tin Nestlé MILKMAID
- 2 cups Rice Flour
- 1/4th tsp Baking Soda
- 1 cup Hot water
- 4 tbsp Ghee - to cook
For the jaggery syrup:
- 1/4th cup Jaggery
- 1/2 cup Water
For the Banana Purée:
- 2 ripe Bananas
- 1/4th cup Water
For Stuffing:
- 2-3 tbsp Jam
- 100 gm Chocolate (cut into small cubes)
How to make Unniappam
- Step 1 Start by preparing the Jaggery Syrup. Add jaggery and water in a pan and cook till the jaggery melts and set aside.
- Step 2 Now, in a mixing bowl, add rice flour, prepared jaggery syrup, and Nestlé MILKMAID.
- Step 3 In a blender, add bananas with water and blend. Add the prepared purée in the batter too.
- Step 4 Lastly add hot water and mix well. Let the mixture rest for 2 hours.
- Step 5 After 2 hours, add baking soda & mix well.
- Step 6 Now, take an Unniappam pan, and add ghee in each hole of the pan. Fill each hole halfway through. For plain Unniappam, fill all the way through to the top.
- Step 7 Then, for stuffed Unniappam, quickly add chocolate cube or jam in the middle of each Unniappam. Add more batter on top to cover the surface completely.
- Step 8 After a few minutes, flip each Unniappam, and let it cook on the other side as well.
- Step 9 Serve these warm & fresh!
