How to make Date Shortbread
- Preheat oven to 1800 C. In a bowl combine maida and sugar, cut in the butter and rub into the maida with the finger tips till it resembles bread crumbs.Press onto the bottom of an 8x8 inch-baking pan, place in the hot oven and bake for 10 – 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile in a bowl lightly beat the egg, stir in the NESTLÉ MILKMAID Sweetened Condensed Milk, orange peel and vanilla essence. Add the chopped dates and nuts.
- Spread this mixture over the baked crust and bake for another 20 minutes or until top is golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.
